Default \"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself\"

Was a fairly passive table; nobody seemed exceptionally tricky. The first pot I can readily recall where it was capped on every street.

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. MP2 posts a blind of $1.5. MP3 posts a blind of $1. CO posts a blind of $1.

Flop: (19 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="blue">(4 players)</font>
<font color="CC3333">UTG+1 bets</font>, <font color="CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="CC3333">MP2 3-bets</font>, MP3 folds, <font color="CC3333">UTG+1 caps</font>, Hero calls, MP2 calls.

Turn: (15.50 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="blue">(3 players)</font>
<font color="CC3333">UTG+1 bets</font>, <font color="CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="CC3333">MP2 3-bets</font>, <font color="CC3333">UTG+1 caps</font>, Hero calls, MP2 calls.

River: (27.50 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="blue">(3 players)</font>
<font color="CC3333">UTG+1 bets</font>, <font color="CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="CC3333">MP2 3-bets</font>, <font color="CC3333">UTG+1 caps</font>, Hero calls, MP2 calls.

Final Pot: 39.50 BB

I thought the River card was a great one for me as it completed the flush (which I thought both of them were drawing to) but when re-raised and capped on the River doubt crept into my mind about pocket 5s. Should it (ever)?

Nice hand, sir.

The number of times you are shown 55 at the end of this hand will be far, far, far, far, far outweighed by the times you are shown a flush, AA, a pair of 8s, and a number of other hands that you beat.

Very nice hand! The river club, I think, was huge for you with 1 or 2 hitting their flushes. Sure pocket 5's beat you, but there's no way I'm slowing down.

Sure wish I could find a $1/2 table like this, I have had no luck finding good tables recently, maybe I'm playing too early in the evening.

Well, it doesn't matter, because you don't start worrying about it till the three bet on the river, but you can't fold this hand when it's capped so it doesn't affect your play in the hand.

For the record though, no. I'm not buying an utg raise/cap with 55 or a cold call of a 3 bet with 55. I'll put as much money as they'll let me with nut boat in this hand every time. Losing to a PP quads happens but its so rare its just not reasonable to ever let it affect your play with your own monster if that's the only hand that beats you.

No way can you fear 55. If someone shows it, well, then you've got yourself a new buddy haven't you? (cold-calling a 3-bet or capping it with 5's)

Nice take down.
