Default Jumping from 1/2 6-max to 5/10 6-max

Hi.

I have been playing 1/2 6-max for 30k hands and have beaten it for 3.6BB/100 over that time. I am now looking to move up in limits, but i am hesitant to jump from 1/2 6-max to 5/10 6-max. Is this a doable jump? I am a much better SH player than i am full table, which is why i am considering this huge jump (I play on Party, so there's no 6-max tables in between these limits). I have the bankroll for 5/10 6-max. My major question is, are there important lessons to be learned at 2/4 and 3/6? I have also been a winning player at 2/4 over 10k hands, at 1.7BB/100. Also, are there any other sites with good 6-max games in 2/4 or 3/6 limits?

Thanks.

There was a lot of discussion about this back in march or april if you do a search. Itd probably be easiest to search for posts by me in the last year and just go way back the the begining. Let me know if you cant find it.

You can probably beat the 5/10 game already. The thing is your swings will be 5 times as big in terms of dollars and not everyone handles this well. Take a look at Paradise, I believe they offer 3/6 5 max games which would be an excellent stepping stone.

If you arent very good at full ring games then I suggest you get some practice at them.

I think it depends on the person whether it is doable. The tables are significantly tighter and more aggressive at 5/10 and I remember being shocked by that, and by the amount of money in play when I first tried to move up.

I recommend getting experience in at other sites with intermediate levels. Stars, UB, and Paradise all have intermediate games. I cut my teeth at UB, enjoyed it, and after I'd mastered their 2/4 and 3/6 short tables I found Party 5/10 pretty easy. Their hand histories don't work easily with PT (rumored to be changing, but not yet), though, so I think I'd look at Stars first.

Oh yeah, on bankroll: 500 BB becomes the standard for comfortable long term play at short games 5/10 and above. You can certainly take shots with less, but the typical 300 BB recommended for full ring games will leave you feeling skinny after you drop 100 BB in a couple sessions which is inevitable and common, and those drops will eventually probably string together to a downslide on the order of 300 BB if you play enough.

Yeh take a shot with 300BB but drop back even if you slide like 50BB, early on your winrate will be up and down and negative all over the place the swings are crazy. Example yesterday I bitched about having a 75BB slide which put my WR at 0.44, today I ran +90BB.

Is there a particular reason for this, or do you just think I need to play more full ring for the sake of it? Because I am able to beat it, i just play better and like the 6-max better.
