That having been said, I'm going to start recommending that all PT posts need to find a different place than in SS and micro. Because they're endless and repetitive and dull dull dull.

Also maybe some of the descriptions of the games and players would increase instead of a 100% convertor post.

This would be great.

I have been trying to respond more but one thing I'm not doing is responding to a 100% cookie-cut-n-paste convertor post. It's just lame.

Peace,

As a possible solution to this problem - maybe someone could make a sticky post for the forum and have it be a "Guidline For Posting in the Small Stakes Hold'Em Forum".

[/ QUOTE ]

I think this is a good idea. It works on many other forums, to some degree anyhow, and it's fair.

Perhaps the best idea seems to be using the hands played in the title, that way newer players could see how the hand was played using the search feature and not redundantly posting the same hands. e.g.
AKs vs. 3limpers (missed flop)
TT vs. KQx flop
KQ in SB vs. LP raiser
Etc.

I was about to post that I think I might be the only one who doesn't think the problem is as bad as others are representing....but then a little idea occured to me.

3. Improve the titles.

[/ QUOTE ]

I believe that if we followed a policy of somewhat accurately representing the HH's in the titles we could eliminate some of the issues that people might be having.

Newbies asking simpler questions should be encouraged to represent their Q as being new and probably straight-forward.

Or...maybe instead of 2/4SS and 3/6-5/10SS we could have forums like 'Beginner to intermediate SS' and 'Expert SS'.

There would still be some newbies posting really easy Q's in the 'expert SS'...but many of the posters like myself and cnfuzzed and others who already KNOW that we're asking questions that are fairly routine would certainly post in the beginner to intermediate forum.

FWIW - For awhile I was posting some of my 2/4 and 3/6 hands in the ML forums because I felt they were fairly straight-forward questions and I really just wanted an uncomplicated approach to the age-old "Am I doing this right?" questions I was asking.

Well, after awhile a couple posters suggested 'Dude....3/6 is NOT micro.'

But I'm going to go back to my initial idea that the problem isn't that big a deal really. how hard is it to search for posters who you like over a couple of pages....or to set your threads-per-page thingee to 30 instead of 10?

If it's a new guy posting you don't have to read it....if you don't recognize the name then there's a decent chance it's a beginners' type question and if you want to avoid those then by all means go ahead.

But if you do open it how hard is it to read through a HH, see that it was really simple, and then just move along? Don't reply and don't read the responses if it's not a hand that interests you.

We're constantly going to get newbies who have never even heard of the converter or will ask questions like "What does VPIP mean?"

Should 2+2 stop promoting their forums on the back of their books because they already have enough 'quality' posters and they don't want anymore newbies?

It all just strikes me as really elitest.

Some players here are really good....some players here really stink....some players here are somewhere in-between.
ALL should be allowed and encouraged to post their questions freely in efforts to improve their game.

Then you misunderstood what I was trying to say.

I will try to be more clear.

The actual "hand history" that people post is not as important as the thinking/poker logic that is behind the correct play.

I would personally LOVE to come home and have 10 threads with 100 responses(new posters as well as vets) to it to view, as opposed to having 100 threads with 3 responses to each.

This is not "elitest" thinking. This is an eager mind presenting an idea that may better serve our community.

Maybe people didn't like your hand. Or, perhaps they just don't reply to your threads because the Pats suck??

A sticky is the right idea, have a look at the 1 Table Tournament section. First thing posters see is a big fat sit'n'go FAQ, though not complete yet, still has great info in there, that answers heaps of coommon questions and keeps newbies occupied long enough for them understand basic concepts.

So instead of a FAQ on how to have the "correct posting procedure" and coming across to newbies as "in order to be worthy, you must learn how to suck our XXXXs", a FAQ would be heaps better, since it would actually address many of the common questions that are asked.

With the quality stuff here we could make a killer FAQ, and it would discourage people form being lazy, as they would have to actually go out and read the posts, instead of just making their own thread as they do now.

The problem is at the moment it really takes ages to find what you're looking for searching through the achives and previous posts, but with the info there with easy to use blue links there would be no more excuses.

That and improve the titles

Also if we had simple titles, eg. AK vs QQ c/r flop then we could develop something like this alot sooner
