Heads up for 1st place - did I screw it up?
A single table NL tourney ($10) yesterday. My stack is about 3200 chips, my opponent has ~4800. Blinds are 500/1000 and I'm dealt 33 in SB. Do I raise the pot here? I just called the BB and guess I should've either folded or raised. If raising, how much? All in?

Re: Heads up for 1st place - did I screw it up?
With the blinds that absurdly high you have to fight to the bitter end with a poket pair, and a good start is making a big raise pre-flop. After that be prepared to go all in and if you can get all your money in pre-flop that's even better. With 500-1000 blinds its a crapshoot and any pocket pair is a strong enough horse to ride all the way. HU you should be doing more raising than calling pre-flop and almost no folding. There's about a 14% chance he's got a better pair than you and he'll flop a pair or better about what, 30% of the time? Chances are you're ahead, go with it and take your chances.

Re: Heads up for 1st place - did I screw it up?
Thanks for the advice, just what I thought too. Now, knowing that he had 63o, I definitely should've moved all-in pre-flop. Unfortunately he flopped a straight (2,4,5) and I went out. Guess he would've folded a big pre-flop raise...
