Preflop, because you should fold that cheese. |

You really think he should fold here with three cold callers and dead money from a late position poster? I think it's worth a call, but would prefer to check on the flop to see what develops.

Re: 15-30 hand #106 - ATo in BB
I would fold preflop. The flop bet is fine, but it seems a bit weak to just fold on the turn. I would bet out again on the turn and fold to a raise. But the key is not getting into this kind of situation to begin with.

Re: 15-30 hand #106 - ATo in BB
im just curious where you got the idea to call in the bb a utg raise with ato?
HPFAP actually uses that hand specifically as an example of what NOT to call legitimate raises with in the bb... -Barron |

Re: 15-30 hand #106 - ATo in BB
Barron,
I posted this a long time ago and got few responses, but it perplexes the hell out of me. I am quoting from TPFAP, page 182. You have ATo on the BB and UTG raises. Sklansky says you should "absolutely not" call, but continues: "This is a simple example where the right play is clearly different in a tournament than in a side game." I posted then that I always fold ATo and AJo here. But, Sklansky is arguing here that ATo is worth a call against an UTG raiser. Is it the presence of all others in the pot that make you fold ATo, or is it something you would do regardless? -Michael |

Re: 15-30 hand #106 - ATo in BB
One big difference is the multi-way aspect of this particular hand and all the cold calls of the raise by UTG.

No Way, Fellas.
Terrible move to fold this in the BB with 4 people already in for 2 bets, and dead money in the pot also. Way too tight.
You all mean to tell me you dont 3 bet the flop raiser to try to isolate him, then lead on the turn? if you're raised on the turn, muck it. I'd like Skanskly or Malmuth to tell me I'm wrong on this one, because im not. Obviously, you have to be able to fold the hand if you get resistance and have reason to believe you're beat on the flop or turn. But, this is NOT the beginner's forum, fellas. You are assumed to be able to get away from this hand when appropriate. Obviously, if you play ATo like a 3-6 beginner, then, by all means, muck it preflop. Joe |
