That's an interesting number for a bank roll. What game?

1/2 online. You play 2/4 online and you run a lot of risk, especially if you only ever played .50/1.00 before. The games are still great, but dealing psychologically with limit changes is tough.
Now, if you don't care if that cash gets set on fire, play a little 10/20 . - Jim |

If you play bad, then I recommend keeping $20 for microlimits, and spending the rest on books.
If your game is triple draw lowball, or Omaha Hi, then you don't have enough to play at any stakes. If your game is Hold'em and you're just learning, go no higher than $1-2, and probably stick to .50-1. If you think you play pretty good, you can afford to lose the $851, and can earn yourself another bankroll before the loss of the first one eats away your very soul, then you can venture as high as $3-6 or perhaps $4-8 (if such games exist). If you play Omaha 8 or better, and you figure you're good, then $3-6 is safe. The question of how much you need depends on a great deal of other information, and has been covered extensively in Malmuth's Gambling Theory and Other Topics. 'hoof |

if you're a winning player, Party 2/4 2 tables at a time. If you're just starting out and just happen to have $851, definietly start .50/1.00 until you're comfortable beating the game and familiar with the software and all that.

Before you get a full head of steam with that ego, try 1/2 out first . You can always move up to 2/4 when you crack $1200+.

I can honestly say poor bank roll management and always trying to play limits higher then I should be with my bankroll is what will consistenly bust me.
On the other hand when I have 800.00 and I play 2/4 if I have a losing session I get so ticked if I drop 75 - 100.00 and I give up till the next day. I think bankroll management is a very very important topic, and one I need to work on myself! |
