Begging for chips at pokerstars
The last two days in a row ive been playing real money ring at stars and had players come in and ask for us to go to a play money table and transfer our play chips to them. The system is quite easy, you just right click on the player and hit tranfer play chips.
Any idea on why these players are hording all of the play chips? |

Re: Begging for chips at pokerstars
Pokerstars chips sell for about $20 per million.
Do not even attempt to ask my why people buy a million play chips for $20, as I have no idea, but they do. Lori |

Re: Begging for chips at pokerstars
If anyone wants to eBay off a million real money chips for $20, I'd probably bid on that. Heck I might even bid more than $20. But I wouldn't bid anything for a million play chips.

Re: Begging for chips at pokerstars
I stopped playing at the play money tables on Poker Stars about six months ago and moved to real money
About a month before I stopped playing for play chips, they started doing the "Race for a million". Everyone sits with 50k play chips and ALSO sends 100k play chips to a "nominated banker". Once the table is full, they start the race/game. The first person to get to 1 million in chips, won the 800k (8 other players x 100k each). You could, of course pull up another 50k when you lose your chips and can, therefore, *spend* anything up to 500k to win the million. If you dont win - you more than likely go broke People were losing ALL of their chips in these races and of course wanted to carry on racing, they were then forced to beg for chips to race with. So many beggers were constantly asking for chips that someone (as a joke I believe) said they would transfer chips but it would cost $1. This caught on - sell chips for $$. Now, you can sell 500k chips for $10-$15 depending on how desperate the buyer is. I dont know if Stars are aware of this (I imagine not) but its been going for for over 7-8 months now. Thats all I know about the play chips situation at Stars - I dont think it goes on anywhere else tho. Ali |

Re: Begging for chips at pokerstars
At UB, I encountered what I thought was a begger. He wanted me to transfer $5 to his UB account in exchange for $6 to my paypal account (extra $1 for my trouble). I assumed it was for the micro games, but he informed me he was going to buy play chips with the cash. So, I told him I would not contribute to such a waste of money.

True...if you believe that you create your own reality, and others
create theirs...you do not do anything to others...only to yourself...but if you read the whole post, it specifically requested that it not be quoted in part...as it was a unified philosophy that was not easily taken apart...so I would request you delete the quote, as out of context.
This was part of a very long philosophy discussion in the psych forum |
