Short handed 40-80
I don't play short handed that much but the game was dying down a few players got up and we were left 4 handed. The SB has only been playing for 15 min so I'm not quite sure how he plays. He showed 53o when he stoll the blinds with a button raise but has showed down a good hand or two.
It is folded to the SB and he completes and I just check with Kh 8d. Who raises? Flop: Kd 8h 2h SB checks, I bet, he calls. Turn: 7h (Kd 8h 2h) SB checks, I bet, he raises. who calls who reraises? I just called. River Ts (7h Kd 8h 2h) SB bets, who folds calls raises? |

Re: results
Suits him well for slowplaying QQ in the SB. That's one the worst plays I've ever seen, even if it is shorthanded.

Re: results
actually, it's not, since most players will not fold a K or an ace to your raise, it doesn't cost you the (tiny) pot that often. I've even heard that there are some players will will raise you after your limp with king-rag, and against someone so aggressive, your deception will pay off nicely.

Re: results
it should be clear that you played the hand perfectly - turn 3 bet = queens fold, at least much of the time. Ditto for river raise.

Re: results
of course, the Qs won't fold on the turn, but they will fold on the end when they miss. Yuor profit much more by having him bet the river for you and just calling as a bigger favorite, than 3 betting the turn and dealing with the river round. You use your position and his aggression to your advantage, and you lose the least when you are indeed behind. Having 2 pair instead changes things surprisingly little...

Re: Short handed 40-80
I'd 3-bet the turn. If he caps or bets into you on the river, I'd just call down.

Re: Short handed 40-80
The only thing I can say is that folding at anytime would be a big mistake and you oughta never play short-handed if you're going to do things like that.

Re: Short handed 40-80
You missed a bet or two, top two is a monster heads up. Id have raised before the flop b/c in general that hand is better before the flop than after (ie you may be able to take it right there)
If you didnt 3 bet the turn, you should have check raised the river |

Re: Short handed 40-80
Umm, along the lines of betting those jacks in the QQ/JJ 3-bet post, I think we've grown accustomed to playing terrible players, or are simply being way too aggressive.
