Two AQ hands against TAG
These two hands were played about 5 mins apart, and the first one obviously had an effect on the second. I've posted them in the order they came.
Station is 41/5/.9 at ~120 hands. TAG is 18.3/5.8/2.4 at 200+ hands. Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (10 handed) internettexasholdem.com Preflop: Hero is UTG with Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, Station calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">TAG 3-bets</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, CO calls, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, BB calls, Hero calls, Station calls. Preflop seems pretty standard. Would anyone cap? Flop: (15.50 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(5 players)</font> BB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, Station calls, <font color="#CC3333">TAG raises</font>, CO folds, BB folds, Hero calls, Station calls. Leading was probably a bad idea. I guess I hoped TAG overplayed preflop and would fold. Preflop reraise range is probably AA/KK/QQ/AK maybe AQ and I'm only good against QQ. I also thought we might be playing the same hand. Turn: (10.75 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font> Hero checks, Station checks, <font color="#CC3333">TAG bets</font>, Hero calls, Station calls. River: (13.75 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font> Hero checks, Station checks, <font color="#CC3333">TAG bets</font>, Hero calls, Station folds. Final Pot: 15.75 BB So which was worse leading the flop or calling it down? A little while later (different table)... Station is 85/0.72/.5 at ~140 hands. TAG is 15/6.7/3.3 at 200+ hands Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (10 handed) internettexasholdem.com Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, UTG+2 calls, Station calls, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333"> TAG 3-bets</font>, Button calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, BB calls, Hero calls, UTG+2 calls, Station calls. Pretty standard... Flop: (18.50 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(6 players)</font> BB checks, Hero checks, UTG+2 checks, <font color="#CC3333">Station bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">TAG raises</font>, Button folds, BB folds, Hero folds, UTG+2 folds, Station calls. Should I lead out here? I was scared to lead because of the previous hand and the fact both TAG's had similar stats. This also factored into the fold. Should I have called 2? Turn: (11.25 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font> Station checks, <font color="#CC3333">TAG bets</font>, Station calls. River: (13.25 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font> <font color="#CC3333">Station bets</font>, TAG calls. Final Pot: 15.25 BB The results are pretty interesting too but I'll let you guys grille the hands first. |

Re: Two AQ hands against TAG
Hand 1 is good.
Hand 2 this is a horrible fold in a ginormous pot. You have to see the turn. If you are 99% positive you are still behind on the turn then you can fold, otherwise you have to call this down. |

Re: Two AQ hands against TAG
I lead the flop and call down both hands.
edit: although as you played the second hand, i think a fold isnt too bad here. |

Re: Two AQ hands against TAG
I guess TAG had AK or AA in hand one.
I think you can check raise the flop. It's unusual for a TAG to not auto bet the flop when he already has the lead, though with this many players, it wouldn't be a bad idea. For that reason, leading out is fine too. Hand 2: Even if TAG is as tight as his stats say, I'd be hardpressed to fold this. But I'm not saying that you should call this down all the time edit: forgot to look at pot size. i no longer have the hh in front of me, but you need to do what you can to win this. |

Final Pot: 15.75 BB [/ QUOTE ] I would lead this flop, call a raise and possibly fold to a bet on the turn UI. I don't see very many hands that TAG would 3 bet that we are ahead of. He follows through all the way like he's not afraid of a pair of As or even two pair. I think he's got AA, KK, or AK a majority of the time. The pot is fairly big though so I doubt calling down would be that huge of a mistake, plus you could see which hands he's pushing so hard and make a note. Maybe he's one that bets hard every hand he plays without thinkin about the board or your hand (he has QQ or JJ or something and just wants to hammer you into folding). Final Pot: 15.25 BB [/ QUOTE ] With the flop on this hand, there are more TAG 3 betting hands you are ahead of like KK, QQ, JJ, and split with AQ. His PF raise % is pretty low, so you still might fear AK. Even so, I'd lead the flop. I'm betting calling station has a weak A. Lead the flop and if TAG raises you I'd check call the turn and river. |
