Why do I do this to myself?
Don't have the exact hand history, sorry.
PS $11 Tournament About 1450 started, down to about 450, avg. stack is about 5000. Blinds are 100/200. Relevant stacks: SB: 7000 UTG: 2500 MP: 1100 Hero (Button): 5000 Hero is Button with K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. No reads, only been at the table an orbit or two. UTG limps, MP goes all-in for 1100. Hero ?. Will post the rest when I get a few replies as whether or not to raise or smoothcall. |

Re: Why do I do this to myself?
I re-raise, probably to 2.5-3k...
I'm guessing you had troubles with the sb because you "smoothcalled". Best- |

Re: Why do I do this to myself?
I don't see any problem with smooth calling and hoping for a push or reraise behind. It's a higher variance line, though, and I've been trying to reduce that lately. Chances are the blinds will fold anyway and your only worry is that the big stack overcalls/pushes and catches on you.
That said, the safest play, is to reraise to isolate. That's what I'd do. |

Re: Why do I do this to myself?
Hero calls. SB calls. UTG uses timebank and folds.
Exactly what I didn't want. The only person at the table who has me covered called and knocked out a player who really liked his hand. With no reads, I had to either believe he had some sort of pocket pair (5 5-10 10) or an unhealthy looking ace (A 9-A Q). Flop (3600): 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] SB checks, Hero with 3900 ?. |

Re: Why do I do this to myself?
Looks like a pretty good situation for you. I'd donkpush that flop hoping to get called by any pair, maybe AK. The last thing you want is to make a value bet then have an ace appear on the turn, which kills the action from TT-QQ, or puts you behind.

Re: Why do I do this to myself?
pushes.
you can't min reraise= you'll be committed if anyone comes along and fires at an ace high flop...- just get it in (this was for preflop).....but smoothcalling has it's merits.. as for the flop play once your'e called... 1k on the flop, push the turn sound good? |

Re: Why do I do this to myself?
Hero bets 1000, SB calls.
What to do now? Push any turn? That was my plan. Then this happens... Turn: A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] SB bets 2400. Hero covers keyboard in his McDonald's lunch and... |
