Squeeze play situation
How does this look?
$11 Party tournament No reads on the first limper as he had recently moved to the table. The second limper had been playing pretty loose. #Game No : 3101234075 ***** Hand History for Game 3101234075 ***** NL Texas Hold'em Trny:17753650 Level:6 Blinds (75/150) - Saturday, November 26, 21:57:47 EDT 2005 Table Multi-Table(521714) Table #53 (Real Money) Seat 10 is the button Total number of players : 10 Seat 1: Proguide111 ( $8955 ) Seat 2: V_Robb ( $1630 ) Seat 4: Sparkdog55 ( $5415 ) Seat 5: DWC65 ( $3690 ) Seat 6: igotdanuts85 ( $3555 ) Seat 7: MugenTsx ( $235 ) Seat 8: allinUTSA ( $4285 ) Seat 9: NJKowboy22 ( $1582 ) Seat 10: comeonguy ( $1125 ) Seat 3: DAVE9BALL ( $1140 ) Trny:17753650 Level:6 Blinds (75/150) ** Dealing down cards ** Dealt to NJKowboy22 [ 9c Ac ] DAVE9BALL folds. Lately whenever I attempt a squeeze with a similar hand it seems I frequently get called by a bigger ace. Should I just completely avoid making squeeze plays with A8s-ATs? I know having 9Ts is probably better when you do get called, but do you think I get called by worse hands, pocket pairs lower than 99 or get everyone to fold enough of the time here to make this a +EV play? I needed to accumulate and this looked like a pretty good spot. All thoughts appreciated. |

Re: Squeeze play situation
this seems more like "punishing the limpers" than a traditional "squeeze play" to me ... either way, i think it's hard to pull off w/o decent reads.
in this specific case, you were so short-stacked it didn't really matter ... you just got unlucky. |

Re: Squeeze play situation
I don't know that this play is bad without reads. At these stakes, I usually hesitate to make this play unless the limpers have limped a few times before.
Also, this play is much better with small suited connectors as they're unlikely to be dominated. P.S. Don't post results. The hand history here should stop after your push. |

Re: Squeeze play situation
Bleh, i dont like it, too likely to be called in an $11. You've still got enough room that you aren't hurting too much. I'd fold and wait for what looks to be a better spot.
Edit: Especially bad due to the no antes on Party. |

[/ QUOTE ] i need help here (not being sarcastic) ... why is this an easy fold here? is it two limpers instead of one? what would the minimum non-paired hand be that's worth playing in this spot? |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't know what the correct play is here, but I certainly have played against players where I think A9s is an easy fold, mainly because I think I have no FE. Does anyone like limping here? |
