9 handed, just sat down at a table, a few hands in, so no reads. villian has 115, hero has 50
preflop: fold, hero limps with 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], fold around, SB raises to $1.50, BB folds, hero calls 1.00 pot ($3.50) flop: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] SB bets $3, hero calls 3$ pot: ($9.50) turn: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]) SB bets $4, hero calls 4$ (for some reason I thought I still had the best hand here) pot: ($17.50) river: Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]) SB bets $6, which seemed weak, so I raised it to $18... good spot to bluff? |

The majority of the time this succeeds, you have the best hand anyways.

If you don't believe him on the flop, raise to ~10.
What are you representing here on the river? slowplayed 3? maaybe... I believe Tx calls this way too often, same with alot of other hands |

I believe Tx calls this way too often, same with alot of other hands [/ QUOTE ] I was representing a Q, since the Q came on the river and villian only bet $6 into a $17 pot. I thought he had either a smaller pair, AK, AJ, KJ, possibly even A10, but I think his turn bet would have been bigger if he had a Ten in his hand |

I strongly doubt he gives you credit for a Q. As someone said before, you aren't getting many better hands to fold and all worse one's fold (so you would've gotten the pot anyway if you would've just called)

i didn't want to call on the chance that he has a pair of tens, 99 or 88, and if he had two overcards I felt that he would have checked on the river, so I raised so I wouldn't have to show down 77 and that he might fold a better hand. Is this correct to think this way, or was calling the river a better option.

Raise the flop or the turn if you think you're ahead. As played, I would be calling you with AT - not giving you credit for the Q or the 3 because of how passively you played flop and turn.

just realized the subject line is wrong, I guess raising with 77 isn't actually a bluff. anyhoo...

If you were raising with the sole intention of getting a better hand to fold, then you are infact bluffing.

also, if I raise the flop wouldn't I be in trouble if the guy in fact has AT, since there would be no way he would let it go? Would it be better to push him off his overcards right there, or let him keep bluffing the turn and river.
