<font color="green">"but here's the Hard Poker Rule: You always lose more money with aces than you make with them"</font>
This is from his latest mailbag article on ESPN's Poker Club. This "rule" may have only been intended for tournaments (I hope). Any comments? |

I think maybe what he's trying to say is that the pots you win with aces will, in general, be smaller than the ones you lose. This is less true the less skilled opponents you are playing, but is more true with the more skilled opponents. A more skilled opponents is not likely to commit a lot of money with a hand that can't beat one pair or at least a very strong draw, whereas a less skilled opponent might put his whole stack in with TPTK drawing to 2 outs.
However, in both cases, you still show an enormous profit with AA....against the skilled opponent, while you win less with aces, the shear number of times you win with aces more than make up for the few times you lose a big pot with them. |
