Is this what they call \"floating\"?
I'm sorry, but I just sat down.
Is this what they call "floating"? I see that term, and I must admit I have absolutely no idea what it means. Well, I have some idea - I think this is one. Easy fold, right? Oh, and I should probably raise pre-flop, yes? Absolute Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is SB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 3 folds, Button calls, Hero completes, BB checks. Re: Is this what they call \"floating\"?
Just to be clear -- by "CC" you mean preflop cold call, not check call. Right? I'm pretty sure that is what a "float" is. (I'm friendly with the SS cool kids, but I'm not one of them.)

Re: Is this what they call \"floating\"?
"floating" involves C'Cing with a marginal hand vs a predictable, weak/tight player with the intention of moving him off his hand sometime during the hand

But I don't mind the fold too much -- the pot's pretty small. Preflop is read-dependent -- I'm not raising unless I'm pretty damn sure the BB is folding. |

Re: Is this what they call \"floating\"?
Wow, that was more than I ever wanted to know about floating.
My thoughts were just like Shillx's - I had no read on BB to tell me this was some weird draw, so I folded. BB turned out to be pretty straightforward, so I think it was the right play. |

Re: Is this what they call \"floating\"?
This isn't floating. This is what the call poker. You are either folding or calling down here (this isn't a spot where you are looking to improve to call the river) and it is a tough call against an unknown. You are getting 3.5:1 so do you think that he has a flush draw or some such ~23% of the time?
