Default SSH odds question: very basic

Just a little confused here. I have always thought that a gutshot straight draw with two cards to come is 5-1 to hit, but on p. 154-155 of SSH it states that the player's chances of hitting their gutter is over 10-1. Can anyone give me a quick answer to this basic question. Thanks.

The odds against hitting on either turn or river is 5.1 : 1.

Looking at each street separately, you have 10.8 : 1 against hitting on the turn, and 10.5 : 1 against hitting on the river (after having missed on the turn).

10.5-1 to come on the next card. 5-1 with two cards to come.

It usually makes sense to think 1 street at a time because you are likely to have to 'invest' twice to see both turn and river.

A GS alone is 11:1 on any single street. You have to call additional bets to see more cards(usually) so you can't cut the odds without figuering the added calls.
