Who Call and who folds? QQ vs. all-in push pre-flop.
This is my 3rd hand at the table, $100NL -- full ring. I get QQ in the CO. Early raiser to $4, I pop is to $14, Button pushes for $86 more. Call or fold?

If early raiser calls, easy fold; otherwise the best you can hope for is AK or JJ. I will fold without a strong read here and move on.

I fold this, i Know theres only two hands that you have to be really worried about, but how often is the button gonna be donkish enough to push with JJ or TT? Even if your up against AK your not a huge favorite. If he is overplaying a lower PP youll find out soon enough in the session and you can use this to break him later in the session. Chances are your either way behind or a slight favorite. You can wait for a better spot to get your money in.

Calling is a mistake... that I often make. Be surprised how many times I've seen JJ/AK/44/63/etc.

Without a read I fold. Here's a somewhat similar situation from a hand I had last night.

Results in white: I called quickly, but instantly knew that I had made a mistake. I was persuaded to call mostly because of how quickly the villain moved in. There was no thought on his part about raising a smaller amount or anything like that. I don't know why this affected my decision, but I took it as a tell that he was weaker than a hand that was hoping for action. He had KK . . . oh well. Always good to start a session down a whole buy-in. |
