Call this huge flop bet?
Live shorthanded NL tournament, 6 players per table. Middle stages, around 35 players left and only 6 or 7 get paid.
Blinds 200/400, my stack ~7500 which is about average. I get dealt A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] in LP. One limper to me and I raise to 1200. Button and SB folds, BB calls and limper folds. BB has played rather loose, calling a lot pre-flop hoping to hit big hands. He has also played his really good hands like AK and AA _very_ strongly pre-flop. He doesn't seem to be the thinking kind, mostly just plays his own cards and not his opponents. His stack is slightly smaller than mine, around 7000. Two players to the flop, pot is 3000. Flop comes J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. BB almost immediately pushes his remaining ~5800 in. Is this a super-easy call each and every time? If I lose this one I will only have about 1 BB left... |

Re: Call this huge flop bet?
His push is pretty crazy, so I don't think you can lay down AA here. What possible hands could you put him on? Even if he had two pair on the flop, you still have a ton of outs and most of the time, I think you're ahead.

Re: Call this huge flop bet?
I call this every time, unless I've seen the guy make overbets like that with strong hands before.

Re: Call this huge flop bet?
This is a call and it's not even close. If he only plays his own cards you're probably more likely to see AJ or two clubs here than any hand that beats you.

Re: Call this huge flop bet?
I actually called just as quick as he had pushed, putting him on a flush draw or a complete bluff.
However, I got a little puzzled afterwards thinking the call might not have been so obvious after all. Since he played pretty weird in general he could possibly have made the same move with a hand like two ragged pair or a set hoping to get a call from an overpair. But then again, he wasn't a thinking player so he probably would have just slowplayed if he hit that flop good... |

Re: Call this huge flop bet?
I'd say insta-call, but what is the buyin? It could make a difference if it were a $500 as opposed to a $50. I'll leave that difference up to others to figure out, as I don't play buyins this big nor many live tourneys.
