So I am playing full ring 100NL on UB (damn you PARTY!). I have not really played much full ring in my days. So far the table has been very passive pre flop so I have been doing quite a bit of limping pre flop. I am dealt AJo UTG, what is my move here ?

I raise it some, i limp it some, i fold it some.
It's a crap hand really, any tight players who call probably have you beat AK,AQ being their likely/minimum/only cold calling hands outside of pairs so your hoping to pick up the pot with a continuation bet OOP. I'm curious what others think as I probably overplay this one. |

I used to overplay this a lot when I first started playing. Anyways I just limped, missed the flop and folded. It seems like a good spot to limp because if someone comes in with a strong raise you can easily fold and there is a good chance if you hit a flop you will be up against a dominated jack.

With no situational information I fold, but raising certainly isn't out of the question depending on how the table is. I would certainly never open-limp this hand, and don't think I would overcall with it either now that I think about it.

Care to explain why you would never open limp with this hand ?
you guys sound really weak tight...not that AJo is made of gold or anything. Maybe this is why I hate full ring. |

There is nothing weak-tight about folding AJo UTG in full ring.
This is an insta-fold for me. |

[/ QUOTE ] You'd rarely want to open limp with this hand UTG because of its potential to win you a small pot while losing you a big one, any raise and you'll probably have to let it go preflop, and the hand doesn't play well multiway. |

There may be a few situations in poker whe fold or raise are good options but its certainly not one of them. Calling is certainly closer to folding than raising. Raising is very very bad. |
