Default My first posted hand - Ace crummy kicker raised on the turn

This hand happened early in the session. At this point I have no read on anyone except to say that these tables tand to be a see of loose passive players and I assume that the players fall into that category until proven otherwise. Here is the hand:
Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
2 folds, MP1 calls, Hero calls, 2 folds, Button calls, SB completes, BB calls, UTG raises, 1 folds, Hero calls, Button calls, SB calls, BB calls.

Flop: (11.00 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets, Button calls, SB calls, BB folds, UTG calls.

Turn: (7.50 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets, Button raises, SB folds, UTG folds, Hero???

What's the best play here?

Simple call down to an unknown.

I call down the rest of the way. Not sure if he has you outkicked, or has 2-pair, straight, or set or whether he has pair of Queens or even Jacks. But, with top pair here, HU, and particularly with no reads, I'm not folding. I want to see the showdown cheaply.

Easy call down. Just the two of you left, so all you have to do is put in 2 more BB for a chance to win the 10.5 that are already in there, plus the 1 more Buton will presumably add on the river. It's tough to put Button on a hand. He could have 9T, in which case you're drawing dead, or something like QJ, Q8 or J8, in which case you have 8 outs. I doubt he has a better ace. If he does, he played it very poorly. You just need to be good 15% here, which I think you are given your outs and the small chance that Button is betting some weird crap like QT.

I would be interested to know if this was a live game that you played, and what limits you were playing at.

As you dont have any reads, and you know that most of the players are very loose at this level, I think that you probably should call down.

The turn may have improved button to a straight, or maybe he was slowplaying a set. Nonetheless you have outs if he just made 2 pair.

So I would call down with top pair in case my hand was good, and at least get a read on the button.

Call the raise and check/call the river. Button could be raising his gutshot, made straight, or better ace.

The preflop play seems to be messed up, first UTG folds, then he raises

I call down from the turn against an unknown.

Thanks for all the help.

I agree with all of the reasoning here but... I folded.

Here is my reasoning and I'm interested to see what all of you who play the micros regularly think...

There seem to be so many situations in these games where you are an overwealming favorite (and your opponents don't even know it) that early in these games when I don't have a read I'm not sure whether its worth playing these hands where the edge is small. I guess the big question is "do you need to take advantage of every small edge and thereby incur some added risk when you are first building a bank roll?"

This is the point of having a proper BR.

This is the second time a microposter has been fold-raised this week. You need to be better prepared for that play.

Call down. If you hit your 6 or A on the river, a call is probably still in order.
