7 stud/8 6th street decision
$5-10 Stud/8 .50 ante, $2 bring in.
I am dealt 3h Ah 4h and bring it in for $2. 6c folds Jd folds 7d calls (Player 1) 8c folds Ac calls (Player 2) As folds 6s folds Player 1 has been overall loose, has limped in with buried Tens once, as well as limping in with split Ks once. I have not noticed to much of his play when going for just low. This is my 11th hand at the table. Player 2 has been quite loose, and awful. 4th St. Player 1 catches 5s, Player 2 Ks, Me 7h Player 2 Ac Ks checks, I 3h Ah 4h 7h bet, Player 1 7d 5s calls, Player 2 calls. 5th St. Player 1 catches 7c, Player 2 4c, Me Jc Player 1 7d 5s 7c bets, Player 2 Ac Ks 4c calls, I call with 3h Ah 4h 7h Jc 6th street Player 1 3s, Player 2 Ad, Me 8h So Player 1 has (XX) 7d 5s 7c 3s Player 2 has (XX) Ac Ks 4c Ad Me (3h Ah) 4h 7h Jc 8h Player 2 bets, my action? |

Rai!
No one is folding and as of right now it seems that you have the best hand. Rai(se)! |

Re: 7 stud/8 6th street decision
Is this a trick question? Raise!
It is very likely that you have the best high hand, and possible that you have the only low. If the other low hand is paired up, you would like to put some pressure on him. Ideally, you'd like him to fold, but good luck with that. Even though your low probably isn't best right now, you have a decent draw to try to outrun the other guy. You have way too much equity to just call. BTW, your draw is big enough on fifth that I would probably raise. |

I was just making sure, I raised. I was just wondering if there is any reason not to raise there, I did not think there was.

And I was wondering about if I should raise on 5th too, I thought I probably should have. I should have mentioned that.

On 5th street, your hearts are very live, & on the lo side, of the 2's, 5's, & 6's, only 4 are out, not too bad. Looks like +EV to raise 'em to me.

Re: 7 stud/8 6th street decision
Did you consider a check-raise on fourth? Seat 1 will almost always bet, then Seat 2 makes the same idiotic call, you raise and get tons of value. Also, the bigger pot may tie these donks to there hand when you hit, or allow to take a free card.
Raising fifth? I dunno. I call, but I don't think raising is a bad line. Raise sixth. Cap it if you can. Always. |
