Final Pot: $34.50 I had just sat down, only played one orbit and I think this was my first flop that I saw. I checked the flop figuring that with seven people in the hand someone would take a stab and I could check-raise. When I was min-reraised, I thought that I might be out-kicked or be behind trips full so I decided to play it passively which is why I didn't raise his stupid turn bet-check. Was that too weak-tight? Should I have let her rip? I decided that I couldn't fold it on the river because villain's betting pattern was just so stupid. Donk lead and then aggression on the flop, a weak-donk turn bet and then a pot-sized bet on the river? Yeah, I was confused. Maybe that was his plan. But I wasn't going to fold this. Would you? |

Re: Trips out of the Big Blind in a Family Pot
I don't see a problem here
I would probably lead the flop myself though |

Re: Trips out of the Big Blind in a Family Pot
check-raising the flop is like saying, "I have an 8, please fold...unless you're beating me".

So if I lead the flop and get raised what does that tell me?

Maybe 9T maybe 89 maybe A7 maybe 99/TT maybe 65 maybe air
I'd probably call and check the turn. Then see what he does |

So if I lead the flop and get raised what does that tell me? [/ QUOTE ] that someone limped in with A8...possibly a strong overpair, but that'd be a dumb raise to make with less than the case 8. seriously, open trips are a WEAK hand. it's really no better than a pair because you'll have the same types of kicker issues that you'll have with them. true, it's less likely that your kicker will matter since there's only one left, but if you play it in such a way that it's obvious what you have, then you will usually only get action when you're behind. |

Re: Trips out of the Big Blind in a Family Pot
This might be true at higher levels, but not so at these levels. The guy with the overpair loves to play it fast, even with a pair on board.

Re: Trips out of the Big Blind in a Family Pot
yeah but does it say that to your random 50NL player?
sincere question, I'm not being sarcastic. If so, at about what limits is it obvious to most? 100NL? |
