"The Republicans are in big trouble if he wins the nom."
that was my first reaction when his candidacy was first proposed a couple months ago, but the more i see him, the more i realize just how good of a politician he is, as well as being obviously very intelligent, qualified, and, well... just plain 'ol electable. scary. |

I think that you are underestimating him. He is one of the few known GOP contenders that I would seriously consider voting for. [/ QUOTE ]I doubt that. Whether it's a cokehead Yale millionaire with a record of bankrupting things, a NYC mayor who lived with gays, a nominally Republican Senator from Arizona who doesn't really mind taxes or Democrats, or a movie actor who claims that trees poison the environment, Rove & co. can paint em up and whisper in all the right ears to get the Right fired up. Already McCain is moving to the right on things like the estate tax, and polls 90% of Republicans would vote for McCain over virtually any Democrat he's put up against. You'd probably be one of them. |

He got blamed for it and it created a wound that I think still exists today. |

Just to let you guys know, I'm a liberal.
Okay, that's out of the way. The guy's a strategic genius, but seems waaaay too ethically compromised. I think in the mudslinging contest that the 2008 primaries and general presidential election will turn out to be he'll be on the losing end. If not in the primaries (Rove and Co. will go to town if they push a candidate) then definitely in the general election. Respect to him for being from Marietta, where I used to live. |

Lol. Hey, it's not just liberals that think he's ethically compromised. I could easily see that post coming from a conservative.
