How would you play this flop...
PLO50, 8-handed.
Hero is UTG+1 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 10[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] SB has 70bb BB has 70bb Hero 50bb No read on small blind. BB thinks open-ended straight draws are a gift from god. PF: Hero limps, MP1 min raise, MP2 call, fold, fold, fold, SB raises to 3.5, BB calls, Hero calls, MP1 calls, MP2 calls. Total pot: 17.5 Flop 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] SB bets 5, BB calls, Hero bets pot 37.5, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, SB folds, BB raises 61.5 and is all in, Hero calls. Would anyone play this any differently? Also, what do people think the worst hand that you could be up against here? |

Re: How would you play this flop...
SB's bet was about 1/3 pot, you don't risk much money just calling with terrific pot odds here. Letting anyone else in the pot is not to your disadvantage (having just a draw) and you can take it down with a turn raise if SB continues to show weakness.
As far as the worst hand you could be up against, QJJT comes to mind, giving you only 2 outs to scoop and 8 to chop. |

Re: How would you play this flop...
I think calling instead of raising the pot here is a perfectly acceptable play. Sometimes you chop, but if the right card comes on the turn, like Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], then you have a nice freeroll.

Re: How would you play this flop...
Why would you raise? All you have is a straight draw and you could be up against top two pair or a set! Remember, this isn't texas hold'em.

Re: How would you play this flop...
Very true, it is Omaha. The big raise was really a play made on percieved weakness. I figured that if anyone had the made hand, I probably wasn't drawing dead.
It turned out that my opponent had a really nasty hand for me. Q-Q-10-x. Giving me 3 effective outs to scoop the pot. |

Re: How would you play this flop...
i like seeing a cheap turn card here ... you have a nice straight wrap, and if you hit, the pot size on the turn will be enough to make some dec. money off
