I just played this hand and I'm wondering what a better line would have been. When you catch a monster from the Blinds, so your'e out of position for the rest of the hand, it seems checking is going to be kind of suspicious, and I'd really hate to get checked through. Would you play this differently? Villians are all pretty loose/passive, BB was 64/7, UTG was 35/0.
Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. CO posts a blind of $2. UTG calls, 1 fold, MP1 calls, 2 folds, CO (poster) checks, Button calls, Hero raises, BB calls, UTG calls, MP1 calls, CO folds, Button calls. Flop: (11 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 players) Hero bets, BB calls, UTG calls, MP1 folds, Button folds. Turn: (7 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero bets, BB calls, UTG calls. River: (10 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero bets, BB calls, UTG folds. Final Pot: 12 BB A check raise probably would have been good somewhere, but against passive opponents, I thought it may get checked through. Anyone? Thanks. |

You played it just fine. A checkraise in this spot is not a good idea. Only if one of the opponents were a maniac, you should try to checkraise.

If they runnered the flush, they're going to raise the river and you can 3-bet. If they didn't thery're going to check it through.

No reason to think they'll bet if you check, just value bet and hope someone raises the river. There really isn't any other way to play this hand.

Yup, that's what I was thinking. Thanks, I was just curious to see if anyone had a way to get a raise in, but against a bunch of passives, I don't think there was.
