Semi-Bluff Turns into Total Bluff: NL $600
Villian has been fairly solid, hasn't done anything too out of line.

semi-bluff flop raises
this has been coming up a lot for me. when you raise the flop on a semi-bluff and check behind a blank turn, what's your general thought process on whether to try a river bluff?

Re: semi-bluff flop raises
I can't talk for AZK, but for me, either some other scare card has to hit, or villian has to be pretty weak/tight.
In this example, the flush completed, which was perfect. |

Re: semi-bluff flop raises
I agree. That [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] was perfect. I'm trying to put him on a hand here though and the only thing I can think of is AA-QQ...god I hope not QQ. But there is a chance you can get QQQ to fold: your line looks VERY convincing that your just rivered the nuts.

Re: semi-bluff flop raises
'Villian bets $45. Hero raises to $150. Villian Calls.'
Unless you are the type of player to aggressively re-raise all draws a flat call on the flop would make the flush on the end look more convincing to me if I were Villain. I don't usually figure a big re-raise for a flush draw at all - more like you are trying an out and out bluff or do have a hand and are trying to protect against the flush hitting. And if you had AKh or AQh I figure you often would push all in on the flop rather than put in a big raise I guess you are risking $750 to win $550 - so you're OK if he folds 2/3 of the time + ... As usual a lot depends on table image I suppose... you say he ahsn't been out of line - have you? |

Re: Semi-Bluff Turns into Total Bluff: NL $600
meh...I guess it wasn't that similar, this is the hand:
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx Button ($473.80) Hero ($616.20) BB ($600) UTG ($279) MP ($617.40) CO ($484.35) Preflop: Hero is SB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $3. 2 folds, CO raises to $16, 1 fold, Hero (poster) calls $13, 1 fold. Flop: ($38) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets $36, CO calls $36. Turn: ($110) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, CO checks. River: ($110) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets $60, CO calls $60. Final Pot: $230 clearly I was just being stupid and this hand isn't similar at all. The villain had K6 of hearts |
