So, I'm still a total noob in the sportsbook game, but have decided to devote a lot of time to reading this forum, watching the lines, doing background reading elsewhere, and starting with a micro bankroll (a few hundred bucks) and very small wagers, to see how I might do and if I can make this profitable.
Unfortunately, despite putting in some effort, I'm 4-16 on a variety of moneyline, spread, and o/u wagers through the first 2 weeks. My question is: how discouraged should I be about this bad start? Assuming a lot of these are close to 50-50 props, should I just accept this as bad starting negative variance and work harder at it, or reevaluate my ability here? I realize it's early in the season, but still, these horrible results are incredibly discouraging... |

You always have the ability to improve your handicapping skills but you need to make sure you're learning the right information and not getting garbage from bad sources.

I would say part of your problem is you're making too many bets. If you're just learning, why have so much action? Seems like you're playing into the books hands. I would focus in on one or two games you really like and add more as you get more experience.
