Default I need suggestions for a laptop....

What I'm looking for:

- Something ~$1000 is ideal (up to $1500)
- 512MB - 1GB RAM
- 40-60 GB HD
- CD Burner / DVD Combo Drive
- 15.4" (or bigger) screen (wide or "square")
- Decent Video Card (something around a 64MB X300)
- No software (office, windows) needed, but not an incredibly big deal as long as it's not horribly expensive

Processor isn't a big deal, weight/thickness dependent on other specs, color doesn't matter, and if you have personal experience something that feels comfortable 4tabling on

Please provide relevant stores, links, articles, models, coupons/rebates, etc.

Thanks.

Get a dell with a widescreen wxda (or whatever its called) I have on mine and 4 tables fit without overlap. Means the laptop is a bit bigger and heavier than normal ones but not hugely so.

The tables look a bit smaller thna on a normal monitor as well but is still easily playable.

I have one. Dell inspiron 6000 (It's goot for poker). I found a good deal and got it for ~750. If you went to CompUSA and bought one it would probably be under 1500, but oyu could easily find one cheaper online.

If you want to save money on software.
Do not get Microsoft Office.
Use Openoffice
It's free, opensource and works great.
Fully compatable with MS Office files and you can even save files as PDF's if you want.

Default In Case You Missed It - Openoffice

Good, another Openoffice fan!
Really folks, if you want to get away from Microsoft Office give Openoffice a try.

While you are at it give the Mozilla firefox browser and thunderbird email application a try. Way more secure than MS products, they work great and best of all FREE!!!

I just received mine this week:

Inspiron 6000
2.0GHz Pentium M
1GB RAM
80GB HDD
15.4" WUXGA (1920x1200)
ATI X300 128MB
cd-rw/dvd combo

$1250 with tax and shipping. It was a $750 off $1900 coupon. Don't believe it is still running though...
