Las Vegas 5/10 vs 10/20
Hi -
Planning a trip to Vegas - Where are the best 5/10 games? Most people seem to mention the Bellagio or Mirage - Are there soft games to be found at this level? How do they compare to 5/10 internet games or to the Taj in AC? Is there a big jump between 5/10 and 10/20 or does it depend more on the table. Thanks for any help. Sam |

Re: Las Vegas 5/10 vs 10/20
There are no 5-10 games in Las Vegas so you should ignore the opinions of those people who said the Mirage or Bellagio have the best 5-10 games.
There are 4-8 games all over the Strip (Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Monte Carlo, Bellagio, Flamingo, Sahara). You can play 6-12 at the Mirage. I've become a big believer that the typical 4-8 game on the Strip is beatable for 2 big bets an hour. But, the Mirage 10-20 game is barely beatable for 1 big bet an hour. |

Thanks Dynasty
Dynasty - thanks -
It sounds like 4-8 is a better bet for me. I should explain - I play at the Taj - where they have 5/10 and made the mistake of equating this with low limit in general which is what people were writing about. |

Re: Thanks Dynasty
Usually, the 8-16 is a rock garden. I haven't played it in more than a year. I am quite sure a good player could make just as much playing in a good 4-8 game.

Re: Thanks Dynasty
If you're going to play 4-8 (or 3-6), I reccomend you not play at the Bellagio or Mirage. All the poker rooms on the Strip have a $4 total rake. However, the Bellagio and Mirage offer no bonuses or jackpots as part of the rake. If you play at the Monte Carlo or Mandalay Bay, you will pay the same rake but get a relative freeroll on high hand bonuses. If you make 4-of-a-kind or better, the house hands you extra money.
From a rake perspective, the Mirage and Bellagio have the worst low-limit games on the Strip. They're only advanateges are a big room (but not more low-limit games) and a completely smoke free environment. |

Re: Thanks Dynasty
Whatever you do...don't play 1-5 stud at the bellagio...last time we looked they took up to five or more and may have been no limit!
However, for fifteen thirty and above, there is little choice...but at thirty sixty, we think they charge TIME, not RAKE at the Bellagio, and that can be good or bad! |

You are an extremely irresponsible poster. The rake at The Bellagio $1-$5 stud game is four dollars max. That means that small pots actually get raked less than four dollars. If you think I'm wrong, give them a call 702-693-7111, ask for the poker room, and then ask to speak to the manager on duty. If you're going to participate in these forums, you need to participate in a responsible manner. Don't come on here making irresponsible statements in an effort to promote your site in some strange way. MM |

Sorry Dynasty, I disagree. Bellagio offers other plusses
The reasons I disagree are several:
There certainly are more 4-8 games at the Bellagio than at either Monte Carlo or Mandalay. (I do check each out before going to play. You can call ahead and get on a list for Monte Carlo or Mandalay or just ask how many games are going.) However, the main factor is that games at the Bellagio are typically softer. I usually take about three hours to lose $200 or so at the Bellagio, but get a lot of action. In contrast, play at Mandalay ($1-2 blinds) or Monte Carlo is much tighter generally, it takes me longer to lose the same $200 and is less fun. Truepoker CEO |

Am I supposed to take this response seriously? |
