Default My 2000NL Debut 2nd Hand (LC)

Never played this high, bought in for the minimum to have some fun, and gamble it up with the big boys. This is literally my second hand of $2000NL ever.

Hero just folded BB to a raise. Now in SB, with $380...both opponents cover.

Party Poker (6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
UTG calls,3 folds, Hero calls in SB, BB checks.

Flop: 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
.Hero bets $60, call, call. ($240 pot)

Turn: 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
.Hero bets $175, BB calls, UTG raises to $450, Hero calls $125(all-in), BB calls.

River: 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB checks, UTG checks.

Final Pot: $1437 ($1137 main, $300 side)

UTG shows A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] for A high flush.

BB shows Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] for three of a kind threes.

Hero shows 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] for four of a kind 8s.

Hero takes down $1137

Hero sits out.

Hero leaves table.

Hero returns to 100 & 200NL and $20 STT.

Hero will enjoy this short term win, boggled that he made in one hand whats he grinded out in 8 hour long MTTs, and never return to 2000NL until properly bankrolled.

Yeah, well my debut 1000 NL shot ended up me going to $1500 after flopping sets like crazy, raising AA UTG into a 3-way pot, flopping A23, betting pot, turn is a 5, get all-in against 44.

Needless to say, I too am not returning to high stakes until properly bankrolled.

Was the converter broken? BB has a boat, not three of a kind. I'll go back to lurking now.....but I'll make a New Year's pledge to post at least one hand a week.

why on earth did you bet 175 with only 300 total left (the shortest stack ever) with the virtual nuts first to act with two players behind you on the TURN?

I figured that the other players would perceive me as the small stack taking a shot and trying to buy the pot, but not willing to risk all his money, which I have seen to a lesser degree in 200NL. Also, I put the BB on the trip threes and figured either he or someone that had been on the flush draw would push the action regardless. Also, theres not really a huge risk in seeing the river first is there, because the only real outs would be for quad 3s or for an overpair to make his boat. Its not like I'm getting away from this hand, but if I push I don't think the BB comes along for the action with his trip threes.

Also, I don't ever play this high, don't really know how people play, which is why I won't be returning soon.
