villain here is 52/30 over a small sample, but has shown to have aggressive, lagtard tendencies. he needs to be sexied.

A whole host of PF raising hands will happily check behind here and those that won't are decent candidates for raising you, allowing you to 3-bet.

like ive said before, i dont like the sexy when the river is an ace.

when you check the river hes only gonna bet if he has an ace or a good jack. hes gonna assume you have a good pair but are afraid of the ace. if he has an ace, you can probably bet/3bet him. and if he has air, I think he is actually more likely to bluff/raise when you bet, than to bluff bet when you check. just because it seems so obvious that you arent folding the river when you check.

edit- also the fact that you have an ace makes it even less likely that he has one. another thing, he probably would have raised the flop with a good ace, or a jack.

I've only been in SH play for a month now, so I am still adjusting preflop. But this hand seems weak, especially OOP. Villain's range is wide because of the numbers that Bob gave, but what about the Button?

I've only been in SH play for a month now, so I am still adjusting preflop. But this hand seems weak, especially OOP. Villain's range is wide because of the numbers that Bob gave, but what about the Button?

i was obviously joking about 3betting...and to be honest, i made a mistake as I thought we were BB. But id dont think it matters much because the extra half bet we have to pay being SB is sorta countered by the fact that BB will probably come along too. I still think its a pretty easy call.

edit-OK i misread again, i didnt notice the utg limper the 2nd time around. now im back to thinking its super easy. 4 way for sure, with most likely 5 way action, I think we have plenty of equity with a suited ace.

Oh, I agree it's an easy call from the BB. Part of what makes it a much easier decision there though is that we're closing the action and the .5 SB discount.
