I'd feel much better slowplaying this on a rainbow flop.

I've got the A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and I'm confident that he does not have a high pocket pair due to his preflop call.
Does this change anything? Plus he would have bet the flop. |

Ok you can probably safely rule out KK, I don't know why I said KK, QQ is a possibility, the fact you have A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] only really changes the situation if a [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] falls on the turn. It would really help if you had a read here as a lot of players at this level could be holding JQs, KQs, AJo etc. As well as TT-KK

Why check the flop? You made a reraise. You're expected to make a continuation bet. Do so.
Furthermore, there is a spade draw out there. The fact that you have the ace doesn't mean anything at the $25 tables. They's raise with Q2s, especially on the button. Why give them free cards to catch up? You only have a pair. |

2 pair, which is actually the only reason that I slowplayed it.
As for the spade draw, I'm heads up against a preflop raiser who called my reraise, and I have the nut card, so it makes it very unlikely that he was raising with spades. |

2 pair, which is actually the only reason that I slowplayed it. [/ QUOTE ] I don't understand why that makes a difference. If you would make a contination bet with AK, why would you not do so with aces? (by the way there's nothing more suspicion then the reraise check. You are EXPECTED to lead out.) And if you think you're ahead, get more money in. Don't start betting after you've given them a chance to outdraw you. 2nd: if he raised and called your reraise, what is likely? For me, the most obvious candidate is a pocket pair. If that is the most likely, you are giving him a free card to hit his set and take your stack. 3rd- a loose player who raises with KQ suited on the button is not going to fold to your reraise. [ QUOTE ] As for the spade draw, I'm heads up against a preflop raiser who called my reraise, and I have the nut card, so it makes it very unlikely that he was raising with spades. [/ QUOTE ] I need a stronger read to make that determination. I play the tables from $25-$100... I see people calling raises with hands like 3-5 suited all the time. |

Nope, I want to give a weak pair of jacks a chance to pair his other card.
