The end is coming
So...is this really a bad sign? or am I just overly worried about my primary source of income? |

Come the next WSOP or next major televised event you'll probably see a resurge in popularity, its not over yet.

Simply put, no. Remember, there has been gambling since Adam thought that he could get a good return on a rib and lost. There will always be people gambling. Some of the Blackjack and other table games crowd will always want to play a bit of poker.
The only thing I can tell you is that if you are truly worried, step up your game. Remember, there is many games out there that YOU are the fish. All I mean by that is that there is a lot of room for improvement, and if you concentrate on your game and continue to think, you'll be set. Fear not, you'll be stacking farktards as long as you want -JOTR |

First, thanks for the link to the article.
Second, rest easy. The fad may have peaked, but there is no indication that it is reversing. Look at Nascar, as something similar--its popularity skyrocketed, but then leveled out at a very high level. I think this is what we can expect from online poker. Also, party hardly advertises, by conventional standards, and it has yet to, as far as I am aware, conduct any stateside lobbying to clarify the status on online poker. So it still has options left. For my part, I don't see how the U.S. can keep internet poker in its arguably/likely/maybe illegal limbo for much longer. Lastly, don't forget that this is a typical stock market overreaction to bad news. Those stockbroker/analyst types are professional weak/tight fishies, imho. |
