Should I have raised on the flop with a 4 flush and top pair?
Any other comments welcome also. First, I'd fold this pre-flop.
Second, I'd raise it up on the flop. You want to give your queens the best chance of holding up if the flush doesn't come in. |

Why would you fold pre-flop?

Why would you fold pre-flop? [/ QUOTE ] Because the UTG came in for a raise. |

Why would you fold pre-flop? [/ QUOTE ] You've got to be really careful about calling two cold pre-flop, especially when there are no other callers between you and the raiser. If the raiser is position aware at all, the earlier he raises, the better hand he's going to have. If you never cold-called like this (no one else in the pot yet), you couldn't be making a bad mistake ever. If you've got a good enough hand to play, you probably want to be 3-betting. |

If you knew that player was so loose and you expected the 6 callers, then the limp is perfect. Always raise the flop. You have top pair and the flush draw. There are 4 players to act after you. If you make it 2 bets to them they are propably making a mistake by calling for their draws. And in theory, every time your opponents call without the correct pot odds, you are making money.

I think your call on the flop was good to get people to chase with you. You probably have the best hand, and if not, have plenty of outs.
However, I think that your preflop cold call is really bad without a very specific table read that everyone is going to play for the raise anyway. |
