WCOOP #1--Out in 4th Hand
I raise, there's a couple cold callers, another guy reraises, I make it 1000, he shoves, I call and my KK goes down in flames vs AA.
I suppose I could have gotten off the hand, but I decided to play this just like I would any other 'Stars tourney and just go with it . . . At least I'm ready for the Party tourney now . . . Michael |

Re: WCOOP #1--Out in 4th Hand
Yeah. just bad luck.
My KK got clobbered against AA in the WSOP main-event early in the tourney. I dwelled on it for awhile...but I just can't see laying down KK pre-flop even though my tight opponent's actions were SCREAMING AA. I had $18k in chips at the time and he had $12k so I was still around in the tourney. Blinds 50/100 - UTG opens for 300...I re-raise to 1000....UTG re-raises to 5000...I push and then hope to see QQ or AK. He calls with AA. Oh well. In my situation...I had been playing pretty aggressively and I'm sure he had noticed that...so I'm hoping that HE thinks I have something less than KK and is just playing back at me with JJ or something. It was possible at least. but it wasn't to be. I believe Dan Harrington has mentioned that he has NEVER folded KK pre-flop. His advice on the matter was something along the lines of "It's Kings." Only way I fold KK pre-flop is if it's a ridiculous bubble-situation in a satellite (the kind that might have you folding AA to the smallest of bets) or if there are 2 or 3 other players throwing their chips in like crazy so that it appears even more obvious that somebody has aces. |

Re: WCOOP #1--Out in 4th Hand
I was on the other end in the 2004 WSOP ME, only it was John Hennigan with the KK. I had about 32k, he had maybe 29k. Blinds were 400/800. I raise, he reraises, I rereraise, he shoves, I call. I figure if it's good enough for Johnny World, it's good enough for me . . .
