Default Hillary\'s chances in \'08 - can she win the presidency?

I am a fairly liberal Democrat, and as it stands, it appears that Hillary Clinton is positioning herself for a run for the presidency. From a purely political standpoint (that is, I'd rather this thread end up to be a "is Hillary a bitch?" debate), can she win?

My answer is no. Conservatives have done more in the past decade or so to slander her name than her husband's, and has gotten away with a good amount of success. With conservatives often refusing to even give her a chance, her attempts to appear more moderate are probably going to fall flat. Her history is too well known, and too liberal, for this to be effective. At best, she will start with 35-40% of the population dead set against her, 10-15% for her, and everyone else fairly skeptical. The sad part is that she'll most likely clean house in the primaries, with such a devoted base of liberals on her side, and then the tables will turn when she gets to the main event.

It all depends on whether or not she can trick the moderates in the nation into believing she actually cares about them. Just like every other politician.

Funny how Clinton won two presidential elections in spite of this. I think what Hillary is trying to sell is that Bill Clinton will be the first man and thus she'll have an experienced leader to consult with and advise her that presumably is one of her closest confidants. The Clinton presidency is one where the Democrats can point out many acheivements.

Alot depends on who the Republican candidate is. All I'm saying is that Hillary's credentials are not as suspect to the voters as you apparently are making them out to be.

Have you heard Newt talk about her? He's got a lot of respect for her and is certainly not underestimating her as a candidate. Newt's a noted liberal basher and he isn't bahsing her.

Clinton won the presidencey because he captured the votes in the south because he was a moderate, Hillary is not even close to how moderate Bill was and thus she stands no chance in the south and no chance for the presidency.

I proposed that solution as well in a thread a while ago, I like Rice, however voting in a black woman might be too huge of a step for the american public.

Electoral College Math Class:

Win all the states Kerry won (none of which are in the South) plus Ohio (also not in the South) = winning the Presidential election

That's not the point. The point is that had Kerry won Ohio, he could have done that. Clearly it's possible.
