Default A cookie to anyone who can make me feel better about this

Two hands earlier:

5-handed
blinds 3k/6k
Villian has 42k
SB 30k
BB 38k
Hero 120k (hell yeah)
UTG+1 121k
poor CO 4k

Folds to Villain on button who minraises
SB pushes
button calls with A5
SB shows QQ

button flops straight

Now:

Villain UTG 78k
Button 29k
Hero SB 126k
Very Tight BB 121k

Villainn pushes
Button folds
Hero has AKo
Hero folds.......

Villain goes on to win the tourny; hero takes third. Please feel free to list all the reasons why I should call; alphabetical order would make this more convenient for me.

FYP.

AK is beating most of his hands.

If you loose you are still ahead of shorty.

The increase in $$$ 4th --> 1st compensates for the times you loose and bust.

Winning here gives you a monster chiplead.

You still have 50k if you loose.

Thanks on the alphabetical order. Good point on the push; I think I woulda pushed had I called. I forgot about the $$$$ for 4th leaving, glad you got that one in.

Anything left out?

You can't fold AK to an open push for 13xBB in a 4-handed game. I'm calling here with a lot worse than AK. You played weak/tight scared oflosing your big stack. villain played aggressively, took advantage of weak/tight play, and won the tournament.

Villain should push 4-handed with pretty much any playable hand. You should call with AJ, KQ, 88 or better at the very least.

Other big stack is playing very tight, you need QQ or better to call a push (happens 1.3% of time). Villain could push every hand and it is very unlikely he will be called by a bigger stack. No wonder villain won.

So villian pushes with a 12BB stack and you're not calling with AK here why?

If villian is any good, I'd put his range at 99-AA/AQ-AK.

An easy call especially since you're not out if you lose this pot, plus if you win, you have 200K and a tight player playing for 2nd. So going to heads-up, you should have at the very least a 2.6-1 lead heads-up.

I must not be any good, but I am pushing with a lot less from CO/UTG 4-handed. Any pp is an obvious push. I push with high cards, suited connectors, etc.

The other problem with hero's play is that the only hands that beat him are AA and KK. With 13xBB, a smaller raise would not look suspicious, so it is unlikely villain would push with either of those.

brain-fart, I totally skipped over the fact that it's 4 handed. A push with 76s here though, is dumb. So is pushing with QTo.

I'd push with 55+/KQ/AT+
