Default 1/2 6-max --> 3/6 max

i've been playing 3/6 full for a long time but recently converted to 6-max. i have the roll to be playing 3/6 6-max but i don't know if i have the skill.

how much should i be crushing 1/2 until i can feel confident to move up to 3/6?

currently i'm at 3.5BB/100 over 5,000 hands. small sample size yes, and i will keep plugging away at it until at least 20,000 hands but i would like to know a BB/100 i should expect to see to warrant a jump in levels.

thanks,
housenuts

Winrate is the worst possible way to judge playing skill. Make sure to play the best you can and post hands and you'll eventually know you're ready for 3/6.

If you've got the roll, why not try say PS 2/4, which I think plays closer to the party 3/6 then does the party 1/2...

I'm coming to find that winning at the 3/6 is all about table selection, as some tables are 26/15 shark tanks, and some are 49/4 green meadows...

is there a good post about 6-max table selection? i'm used to full ring so i know what a juicy table looks like there. as for 6-max i'm not too sure what i'm looking for because i'd assume obviously everyone numbers are going to be a bit higher.

I come from party $1/2 and I look for VPIP about 50% and PFR about 5%, obviously if these numbers are lower but distorted by one player I will stay

Dont know about other limits but I have played a bit of $3/6 and find that 40% VPIP and about 8% PFR is pretty good

At 1/2 you can sit down at any single table and theres at best 1 other half decent player and 4 mega donks.
3/6 you need to do some table selection.
Have a go. Theres plenty of very soft games.

How many TAG(ish) players do you people tolerate on your table?

Depends how donkish the donks are. If there's an uber 75/5 loose passive, I'll tolerate 4 other decent players. If there's no giant donator, 3 other decent player is too many.

I will only sit down at a table if it has at least two people with 40-50%+ VPIP unless there is one giant donator (75%+ VPIP)

Dont base your moving up-decision on winrate, I base it on feel and bankroll. If you feel you crush these guys, you probably do. If you are not sure, you probably are not ready yet.
