Villian is like 30/4/2
Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (6 max, 4 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is SB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. UTG calls, Button calls, Hero completes, BB checks. Flop: (4 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) Hero checks, BB checks, UTG bets, Button folds, Hero raises, BB folds, UTG calls. Turn: (4 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets, UTG calls. River: (6 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets... I put him on mid pair or top pair, so I'd say I'm behind on this river, no? I was bet/folding this river. Comments? |

I might just check/call the river to induce a bluff. You don't really mind it being checked through in my opinion. The flush draw isn't calling a bet, the 8 just rivered you, and you were behind a T the whole way anyway. Maybe I'm way off base here, but I prefer a check/call on the river.

Check/call. I hate the river though.

I tend to bet-fold this type of river but I could be wrong. The thing is I'm often surprised at the cheese (A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]X[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and even K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]X[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] on this board kind of make sense) I get called with with so I just tend to fire away.
If I checked I think calling would probably be incorrect, so I'd rather spend the one bet by leading. |

Do you really want to spend a bet on this river? I don't get it. I think by checking, there is some probability that villain bets the worst hand assuming you were on the flush/straight/high cards draw and gave up on the river. |

I think you're right. [/ QUOTE ] I check-call this river. One of the things that I have learned in 6-max games is that people love to make hopeless bluffs on the river when checked to (at least in the $3/6). Thus, the full ring mantra that you are oftne a worse dog when you check-call the river than if you bet and got called I think is less applicable here. In my short 6-max career to date I have doen quite welll inducing bluffs. Another thing. You have showdown value here. People will occassionally bluff-raise you at 6-max (again in my brief experience). It would be very hard to call a raise here but you can't risk folding the best hand. Thus, check-call. This is not to say that you should never bet and fold to a raise but here I don't think there are that many hands that you beat that call you but would otherwise check-through. A beter hand will at least call. I really don't think you are much worse of a dog when you check and villain bets and I think often you catch a bluff. Well, I have said the same thing about three times now so I will stop. Someone please get me an editor. |

I go for the check-call.
But preflop I raise. |

Pretty standard to raise preflop here.
I like check/calling the river. It's looks like he either has a mediocre hand like a weak jack or middle pair that he's just going to call down with or a flush draw. You might get a Jack or Ten to check through thinking that you have a good jack and just didn't like the middle card pairing. Lost Wages |
