it feels like i get outdrawn a ridiculous number of times when playing the 1/2 and 3/6 6max games against bad players. while my luck feels "normal" in full rings, my luck feels abysmal in the short games. barring any bad play on my part, is this simply because we play more hands in a SH game? FWIW, my VP$IP for 3/6 is about 27.5.

The poker gods don't like you. Probably has something to do with the way you spelled "prevalent".

yea...of course bad luck is more prevalent in sh games. sh is an area where the laws of statistics are warped such that worse draws get there more than they do in full ring. this phenomena has been understood by the greats for years. now that you stumbled upon it i guess i might as well notify the masses.

man, why are some of you guys such pricks? [/ QUOTE ] Regular SH handed play has that effect on you I think I can say with pride that the SH regulars will come down harder on whine posts than any other forum. |

Your standard deviation is higher in shorthanded games, so the swings (both bad and good luck) are magnified. Try searching for "STDEV" and "standard deviation," you can find lots of good reading.

Heh it's weird really, yesterday and the day before it felt like i got SHITLOADS of bad beats in those games (playing 1/2 6-max) and didn't win a single >15BB pot, but still I went up a 100$ or so. The swings are higher because people play some a bit more marginal hands, but monster hands don't get outdrawn as often as they do in fr. 2 pair usually wins a lot more than it does in full ring etc.
