Foxwoods next spring break
I am thinking about going to foxwoods next spring break and i have a few questions for people in the know.
Even though i consider this trip a vacation i want it to be a profitable one and I notice hotel rooms are about 100$/night(the cheapest ones i could find) during the weekdays. I think i will probably be willing to play 10-12 hours a day of poker over my 3-5 night stay. Also I live in the western united states so I will be paying airfare. so my question is, how high of stakes(NL or limit holdem, probably 80%NL/20%limit) need i play to maximize the likelihood of this being a profitable or at least break even vacation. can poker players get comped meals? room discounts? any other ways to get a good discount? also, i haven't discussed this with any of my friends but there is a decent chance i will be splitting the room with someone which will save some $$. |

Re: Foxwoods next spring break
Three:
I assume you're in college since you used the term "spring break". Why would you want to be in the woods of CT during March for spring break? Aside from being the largest casino in the world and having a decent poker room, Foxwoods (in March) has little extra-curricular activities of interest for spring breakers. |

Re: Foxwoods next spring break
Foxwoods is great but I spend most of my time in New York and New England. Considering the airfare differential:
WHY WOULD YOU EVER GO TO FOXWOODS INSTEAD OF VEGAS??? |

Re: Foxwoods next spring break
In fact, because of the market forces involved (the fact that it's one of two casinos in New England, it serves two major metro areas, etc...) Foxwoods can be surprisingly expensive. It will also be pretty expensive to get to if you plan to go to Providence or Hartford and a real bitch if you plan to go via a bigger city like Boston.

Re: Foxwoods next spring break
wow i had no idea foxwoods was regarded as such... maybe i will go to vegas.
my thinking was that i wanted to go to the eastern united states... so my new question is, any cool places east of the mississippi? affordable etc? also if i do go end up going to vegas... where the best place to go to get a discounted room/comped meals to save a few bucks? also what games should i try out that are profitable enough that i will have a decent chance of leaving in the black |

Re: Foxwoods next spring break
Foxwoods is not a dump. They certainly have issues (read a few of my recent posts in this forum) with dealers and some rules. But the games are GREAT. Sure the games are GREAT in Vegas too, but I think you will enjoy a trip to Foxwoods.
Every hour you play at Foxwoods you get either 50 cents or $1 of comp. Better than nothing. I have never stayed at Foxwoods. Ken |

Re: Foxwoods next spring break
Foxwoods is a really wonderful place to simply play poker, but, in my opinion, it is not a vacation destination worthy of spring break. If you are going with friends who are anything but very serious poker players I would recommend against picking F'Woods, since Vegas has much more to offer.
