Default QQ flops an ace.

Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

SB is tight and somewhat passive pre-flop, but rather aggressive post-flop. I've read him for a tendancy to cold-call hands that he would normally call with, regardless of position.

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">4 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, SB calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>.

Flop: (5 SB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">SB bets</font>, Hero ??

Please include reasoning with your line.

fold

you most likely have two outs. even if hes aggressive post-flop, you say he is tight/passive preflop. that means he could be coldcalling with hands like AJs because its a "drawing hand" in his mind.

if you continue to showdown you are HOPING he has a trash pair like 66.

just let it go.

This hand is amazingly similar to the famous NPA hand. To recap...

I open raise QQ and only the BB calls.

Flop: K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

He bets out and I call

Turn and River are meh: Bet/call, Bet/call and I win.

Yeah?

I respect your posts Shillx, but as a question, arent your average players more likely to hold Ax than Kx ?

So perhaps calling down when the flop is A77 is more risky when you have raised with QQ, than when it is K22 ?

i'll donkbet this with some pair either in my hand or on the flop sometimes, or even check/raise. calling is actually scarier in BBs mind (probably) as you could have the Ace or a higher pocket pair or nothing- you never can be quite sure HU.

so it really depends on the villain, which is all HU play. this is a good place for the WA/WB line and i've read HU play suggests to take the top card off and make it a meaningless 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] or something, meaning you have a strong pair and there's no overcards with no draws and only 2 7s left in the deck making it unlikely for him to have it, you figures he's bluffing here more times than not.

..at least that's how i approach this hands generally.

Raise and see how much he likes his hand. If he's not tricky he will only 3bet with hands that beat you.

The only thing you're beating now is a bluff.

If you raise, a worse hand is folding, but better hands are not (and may 3bet you).

Call call call looks good, or raise/fold seems fine as well IF you think he won't 3bet with a worse hand.
