\"BB Won / Hand\" Benchmark?
Obviously bigger is better, but is there a number that you all shot for in your first year of playing. I'm a bit of a newbie, so I don't even know what you pros are working at.
Thanks |

Re: \"BB Won / Hand\" Benchmark?
If you reach 3 over a significant number of hands (50k+) you should already have moved up a limit.

Re: \"BB Won / Hand\" Benchmark?
On the Internet, 2BB/100 hands seems be be good to shoot for. Any higher than that, you'd do yourself a favor by moving up. If you're lower than 1BB/100, you might win more by stepping down.

Re: \"BB Won / Hand\" Benchmark?
In poker tracker, the BB/100 does not take into account the rake.
I'm assuming this is a bug? |

Re: \"BB Won / Hand\" Benchmark?
You've managed to fubar something if that's the case for you. It does report the actually won BB/100 for me, and for everyone else I've seen.
Talk to support about it. |

Re: \"BB Won / Hand\" Benchmark?
Ive been playing .05/.10 and .10/.25 tables for about 6 months now, and about a month with Poker Tracker. Since I've only had Poker Tracker for a month, I have only logged about 10,000 hands so far. Anyway, I have a feeling I should be moving up to the higher tables if your responses are correct. My BB/100 hands is currently at 16.5, and I have a bankroll of about $200 right now (I cashed out some winnings recently, so $200 is my starting point again). Also, if I do move up, should I get my bankroll up a bit? I cashed out a little over $1000, so adding a bit isn't a big concern right now.

Re: \"BB Won / Hand\" Benchmark?
Important note: The above figures are all for limit. For no limit somewhere around 10BB/100 (PTs fictious "big bets", ie 20big blinds/100.) is good-great for lower limits.

Re: \"BB Won / Hand\" Benchmark?
Thanks, I'm a good distance above that, so I think I'll be moving up. What is a good bankroll to have for a new .25/.50 and .50/1.00 player? I've heard conflicting numbers. Some say 200x the BB, some say 100x the BB, etc.

Re: \"BB Won / Hand\" Benchmark?
Depends on what you want to accomplish really.
But I'd move up to a limit where you have 300BB. Then at the end of every month withdraw half your actual winnings and all your rakeback/bonuses etc. Buy poker books, presents for the girlfriend etc for that cash. I've found that doing something like that lets skill grow about as fast as bankroll. |

Re: \"BB Won / Hand\" Benchmark?
Thanks. Don't mean to gloat this quickly, but I got into a .50/1 game for about a couple hours, and I'm up another $200 already. I left after taking a bad beats (str8 to a full house twice...d'oh). I know this is absolutely no indication of my ability, but I can't be happier for jumping up a level and doing this decent in a couple hours. Now to Poker Tracker to see where I was a complete dumb ass...
Thanks again! |
