Default An exercise in note taking

There is a trend on this forum that is by no means a recent one - posting hands with no reads. (See Entity's Post) However, one of the most common pieces of advice given when facing an unkown is to call for information. Judging from this, I don't think many of you are using that information at all. You are content with laughing at the guy who tried to bluff you and moving on to the next hand.

The information on your opponents is out there, and I don't think enough of you are keeping track of it. So, I'm going to post note taking exercises from time to time so that people can get an idea of what they should be doing. Other people are more than welcome to add hands to the discussion.

Villian is new at the table.

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
2 folds, Hero raises, 3 folds, BB calls.

Flop: (4.50 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls.

Turn: (3.25 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls.

River: (5.25 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 7.25 BB

Results in white below:
BB has 3d 4d (two pair, sevens and twos).
Hero has 9c 9d (two pair, nines and sevens).
Outcome: Hero wins 7.25 BB.

What notes would you write about the BB given this information?

Calls PF raise from MP with suited crap.

Bluffed river on double paired board with nothing.

Yeah, should include that, but still rather questionable blind defense HU.

Other than the preflop call, I think villain played this hand pretty well. My notes would probably mention that he seems like a thinking player who has somewhat low blind-defense standards and will bluff scary river cards.

I agree that the idea of taking notes and observing your opponents is pretty important, even at the micros. Especially if you ever plan to move up from the micros.

Other people have already defended me (awww, thanks guys), but I think that the bluff on the river has a fair chance of working. His action the whole way looks like he could be calling down with bottom pair, so isn't it a reasonable assumption that he might have that deuce? He only has to get the hero to fold something like one time in 5, and it's a super-easy fold to a reraise (for him).

So preflop is definitely shaky, but after that he had odds to chase his flush draw, and made a decent bluff on a scary river card.

Wait, which part of his hand was good? The passive c/c with a flush draw on the flop and turn (w/o proper pot odds), or the desperate bluff with 4 high on the river?
