To knock the blinds out if they're holding 2 diamonds.

Re: Value bet the river?
I wasn't really thrilled with being 4 handed and having only a pair of aces with a bad kicker, so I thought it might be better to get it heads up and possibly hit a 7 or a backdoor flush.

Re: Value bet the river?
It kind of depends on your read. The only worse ace you actually beat is A6. And I doubt Villain is calling with a busted flush draw or a busted broadway gutshot.
But MP2 also could have been leading the flop with a queen or a pocket pair. If it was a pocket pair, it looks like you're getting called down. If it was a queen we can't be as sure that you're getting called down (MP2 could have just been chasing trips/two pair on the turn), but it seems likely. Hands with aces in them are popular, and I think people hesitate somewhat to bet into boards with aces on them in multiway pots without top pair or a good draw. (I'm saying I think MP2 will have an ace more often than a queen, though the fact that he started calling down so quickly instead of 3-betting or pulling a stop-n-go makes me not so sure.) Anyway, I think the river check behind is all right. It's possible I'm letting the results influence me, though. |

Re: Value bet the river?
This player had been really passive during the game, so when he bet out and then called the flop raise and turn bet, I could only put him on an ace. I figured I was getting called no matter what and there were only three As I could beat (A3, A4, A6). So I thought a check was the right move.
