This hand was played a few weeks ago, was observed by me, and was discussed with Clarkmeister and fsuplayer. I think I have the details right, but might be off on part of it. I have not asked any party whether or not it was ok to post the hand, but I'm gonna do it anyways because I'm gonna forget about it by the time I can get a hold of any of the parties.
Clarkmeister and I disagreed with the proper move to make on the river. FSUplayer and I have been raising the table rather liberally in the first hour after this game formed. FSUplayer is making lots of money, I'm losing lots of money, but I'm needling Brier more, so I'm winning. FSUplayer raises with red AKo from UTG+2 after a limper. Brier calls in the CO. The blinds fold, the limper calls (or something like that...there were 3 to the flop) Flop: Kc Td Xc Limper checks, Fsu bets, Brier calls "quickly and stubbornly" (not my words), limper folds. Turn: Jh Fsu bets, Brier calls. River 9h Gimme a line. |

anything other than checking would be terrible. what worse hand that he cc with pre-flop is he going to call with. Is the debate to fold or call once u check?

does anyone like betting folding to a re-raise line?

I'm not too familiar with Brier's play, but that's definitely an ugly river card. The first line that comes to mind is check-call, but I won't be happy about it (hoping to see a missed flush draw). Check-folding seems too weak-tight, but almost anything reasonable that Brier cold-called with PF and then called the turn bet has FSUplayer beat.

Checkraise because he'll fold the river assuming you have AQ and got lucky.

[/ QUOTE ] Beautiful; however, you would have to put Jim on a VERY, VERY narrow range of hands in order for this to work (i.e. with a busted club flush draw, will he bet out? with a set, will he bet out? with AQ, yes he will bet out but will he fold to the C/R; with AK for a split, will he bet out?). Remember, according to the OP, Jim called the flop bet grudginly, meaning he has a draw? I like this hand. Thanks for posting it OP. |

Checkraise because he'll fold the river assuming you have AQ and got lucky. [/ QUOTE ] Checkraise and usually you get called and lose to a one card straight. Sometimes Jim will have AJ and he may bet it (if you check) trying to represent the queen but he won't call a checkraise with a worse hand. If he has two pair he knows enough to call down a checkraise from loose aggro insane youths in this spot. He might fold to my checkraise though . ~ Rick |

How often do you get check-raised in these spots by someone that can't beat some random 2-pair? Unless he has a Q, I'd guess his line is probably bet-fold. |
