Default Bringing a laptop to LV

Hey all
Wasn't sure where to post this. I am going to LV next week and am considering bringing my laptop so I can do some work in between poker sessions. I am staying at Mandalay Bay.

My concern is keeping the laptop secure while I am out of my room. The reservations people basically said it won't fit in the safe and their safe deposit boxes are too small.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
AnyAce

I'm sure this isn't the advice you are looking for, but.. Don't worry about it. I've left a laptop loose in my hotel room many times at places not nearly as nice as MB and never had a problem.

If you are really concerned go to staples or compusa or something like that and get one of the laptop locking systems. You could secure it to the desk in the room or something.

ditto.

If I'm at a hotel that is a little sketchier I'll just put it in my suitcase so it's not quite so obviously out there (and this might not be a bad idea anyway considering the other post about just walking into a room while the maid is in there which I think IS a decent point).

At the MB your laptop will probably be the least valuable thing the maids see as they go from room to room.

Now...if you were going to say whether or not you should be leaving your wad of $100's out in the open I would probably recommend against it. But the laptop should be fine and dandy.

Unfortunately I didn't have any wads of 100s to leave lying around even if I wanted to (particularly after Mrs AnyAce got back from her peppermint rose petal rhubarb licorice asparagus shiatsu swedish facial pedicure massage thingy...)

I hear those are pretty relaxing. It's the licorice more than the asparagus though (based on your skin-complexion).

and I think it's "swedish shiatsu" and not "shiatsu swedish" but maybe this is a regional thing.

Depending on the size of the laptop, it might well fit into an in room safe. Mine fits into many of them, but I haven't stayed at MB in many years.

AnyAce:

I've stayed at MB many times with my laptop with no issue. In fact, the last time I was there (The Hotel) I left my wallet on the bed and the maid service didn't touch the wallet and didn't make the bed because my wallet was there!!

Thanks for all the replies.

I bought a laptop locking system just now. I am sure it will be okay. I would just feel like a donk if my laptop got snatched.

Just remember with all the conventions that go through Vegas what some people probably have in their rooms. A maid is not going to risk their job to steal your laptop and sell it on the blackmarket.

During conventions I've had over 30k worth of computers sitting in my room and I was not worried in the least bit.
