Default Help me figure out why I apparently suck at 5/10 6max pt. 5: AKs IP

CO wasn't particularly aggressive, but didn't seem to be a complete fish either.

I play it just the same so far, and on the river I usually call and I usually lose, but you need a "never, ever bluffs" read to fold the nut nothing getting 9-1.

You were going to check behind if he checked, right?

Guy.

I call expecting to win 1 in 9. Check through if he checks to you on the river.

Call river, if he checks I would check behind. The only hand he can have that is representing is a busted draw or exactly A5. I would still make the call cuz the bet seems pretty random.

Hi,

You are over looking QJ/KQ/QT type hands that are preventing check behinds from AK/JJ-77.

44 who was planning on calling down vs the 1 over card and then rivered the boat and hopes you have a Q.

Oh, And ANY pair hoping under pairs fold and/or inducing crying calls from worse hands.

After you bet the turn they are pretty sure you aren't folding for 1 more bet at 10/20 you can call and snapp off a lot of bluffs, at 5/10 its very likely a value bet. Its pushing 90% certainty its a value bet.

Later,
MarkV.

Uh oh, I disagree with everyone, so I must be wrong.

I do not bet the turn. Part of the value of the flop bet, in my view, was to get a free card. Take the free card. You're up against a guy who raised utg, so I think it's highly unlikely he's folding to a turn bet. And remember, you said he's neither particularly fishy nor aggressive.

Is this terrible?

Then, you miss, and he bets the river. Call?

I was afraid you were going to ask this question.

Honestly, I'm not sure what's best here, and in practice, I'm probably making a gut decision based on whatever limited kind of read I have.

By checking the turn, you are inviting the guy to bet the river, which would seem to be an argument for calling. But if I'm planning to call the river bet, maybe that is an argument for betting that turn also? I guess the differnce is that checking the turn, and calling the river, at least gets you a showdown.
