Hands needed for reliable stats on an opponent.
How many hands should I have on somebody before I can consider my pt stats reliable? Is it much different for vpip vs. aggression? post flop vs preflop?

Re: Hands needed for reliable stats on an opponent.
You can get a reasonable estimate of VPIP and PFR after 30 hands or so, but I wouldn't start doing anything dramatic based on those reads until 50 or 100 hands. If you use them to push borderline decisions one way or the other, that's probably OK. Ag factor doesn't converge as well. You might have a decent estimate after 100 hands, but you won't get closer than +/- 0.1 until over 1000.

Re: Hands needed for reliable stats on an opponent.
An easy way to figure this out is to go through your PT by session, comparing hands in a session with your vpip for that session, compared to your "average vpip".
Also, you can filter hands by date to see your aggression level over reasonable sample sizes. Happy hunting! --Dave. Edit: If you don't play a lot, then you can mine the hell out of party when you're not playing, then do what I described with someone other than yourself. |

Agree and sometimes people are tricky even though they have "predictable" stats...
