Default A 4,5,6,7,8 os in late position

I was wondering if you all even play A 2,3,4,5,6,7 or 8 os in late position in the early stages(level 1 or 2) of 10 +1 SNGS and if you do, how do you play them

Thanks

I don't either. The only time I play those early is level 1 and I'm the small blind. It only costs me 5 more chips and I'm just hoping for a wonderflop (two pair, trips).

You're kidding, right? I can understand folding <A6 or something like that.. But to say that AT is an easy fold?? Jeepers. I suck at postflop play, but I don't think that it should justify sucky preflop play to that an extent. How else do you learn to play 'em flops

Here's my problem with playing AT in 10+1 sngs. If you hit your ace, you don't know if it's good. At a higher level, you can bet out and fold and get raised, as you can assume that you're way behind. At the 11s, most players don't know exactly how strong their hand is. How many times have you seen someone showdown A3 for all of their chips when they make their ace? When you get raised or called, you have absolutely no idea where you stand.

There are so many opportunities at the 10s to get your money in in great shape...AT is far too marginal for my tastes here.

It's not like you always need to play for your whole stack when you hit your ace, especially from position. There are a lot of weak players who pay you off with crap and never raise even with the goods. With a kicker as high as ten, you can also hit T-high flops and double up against LAGs.

[/ QUOTE ]I've found that in an unrasised pot that hitting an Ace with a ten kicker is usually the best hand. Either that or there are a lot of people with AJ who fold to my lead bets in such a scenario. (Note that I am talking about playing AT in good position and either being the first to bet the flop or raising a weak donkish bet postflop).

Well, this isn't 'sucky preflop play' in this format, and I don't fold AT because of a lack of post-flop confidence. SNG poker is very different from other forms of poker. Each chip in your stack at a SNG is worth less than the one before it. In other words, chip #1 is worth more than chip #10, which is worth more than chip #100, etc. For this reason, many situations that might be +ChipEV are not +MoneyEV.

For a good illustration of this, if you could go all-in on the first hand against a single opponent, and you know you are 53% to win, should you do it? The answer is no. In other forms of poker, this would be considered a poor play.

This is almost certainly wrong.
