The top 5 attributes of the \'complete\' poker player
Hi all,
Assuming there is such a thing as the complete poker player, what do you think their attributes are? What must a player have in order to be considered 'complete' or world class? Any thoughts are appreciated. Bingo |

Re: The top 5 attributes of the \'complete\' poker player
Golden rule #1. Money Management You can be the best Texas Hold 'em Player in the entire world, but even the best get unlucky sometimes. If you have a $100 bankroll and enter all of it into a $1/$1 NL game, you aren't managing your money correctly. You can have all the poker skill in the world but if you don't know how to win correctly, you're destined to go bust. As Mike Caro says "don't treat your bankroll like a tournament starting stack." He means once you make some money at a smaller limit, don't take your whole bankroll to higher stakes just because you can.
#2. A knowledge of mathematics, specifically calculating odds quickly. This one is pretty self-explanatory. #3. The ability to read people (psychology). Whether it be reading their faces and tells at a B+M game or reading their betting patterns, this is a must-have. #4. Balls Poker is not for the weak-stomached. #5. Patience More specifically, the ability to be humble and choose your battles. If you don't have the best hand, you need to fold it. You can't try and win every hand, it's just not possible (although I do give it a shot once in a while, as I am extremely competitive). If you don't have the best of it, protect your money. Also, nobody can master bluffing, it is a risk every time it is done. If you bluff too much, you will undoubtedly lose money (the same is true for the opposite, however). That's my top 5. |

Nice reply to my question. Could I ask a different question...
What are the 5 key differences between good players and world class players, (extremely good players)? Thanks in advance Bingo |
